Nickelodeon, the home of Kenan & Kel, among other more famous TV shows like SpongeBob Squarepants, was founded on December 1st, 1977 as a network on cable service QUBE, owned by Warner/Amex. It was renamed to Nickelodeon in 1979.

Kenan and Kel debuted Monday, July 15, 1996, and continued to air new episodes until July 2000, when the TV movie, Two Heads are Better Than None aired. It aired on SNICK at first, and after the show ended, it then it aired on TeenNick, another programming block, until 2003. It returned to air on Nick at Nite regularly on June 25, 2012. The episodes aired on N&N without the closing tag and credits. Eventually, after two weeks it stopped airing and was replaced with reruns of Victorious, another show that Dan Schneider was involved in.
